Willem & Sascha
Willem Engel
Willem’s love for Brazil started in 1999 with capoeira. Soon after he
discovered zouk. The wavy hair and the fluent movements fascinated
him and he decided to devote his life to this beautiful dance. In his
lessons he pays a lot of attention to dance techniques, but also tries to
offer the dance in such a way that there is a possibility for various
styles. “There is not just one good style, but as many styles as there are
people that dance.” The past seven years Willem has been teaching in
many cities in the Netherlands. He has expanded his view on dancing
and wants to share this with the world. Internationally he has been very
active as well, teaching and performing all over the world.
Willem is a real gentleman. His number one rule in dancing is that the
lady should be comfortable. And ladies, I’m sure you will enjoy
dancing in these strong arms. His analysis of movement is highly
developed, making it possible to break down and explain every move.
At any party it’s Willem’s goal to dance with all the ladies and his
energy is endless!
Sascha Maris
Sascha has been dancing since she was 11. In 2006 she and her
former dance partner Elmostafa Kassi won the Brasazouk
International Zouk/Lambada Competition, in Amsterdam. Shortly
after that, she started to teach and perform at several renowned
international dance events in Holland, Belgium, Spain, England,
Denmark and Surinam. With Willem Engel, she made the zouk
choreography for a theater production in Holland. Currently, Sascha
teaches salsa, zouk and zumba in different cities in Holland. She loves
to share the joy of dancing with people from different backgrounds
from all over the world.
Sascha loves to laugh, especially at her own jokes. This girl makes
everything shine: with her positive attitude everything becomes
beautiful. She is very structured in teaching and performing and has a
keen eye for detail. Apart from all those qualities she’s drop dead
gorgeous!
